Well, I opened my browser today and right there on the home page was a headline stating “40,000 New Laws Coming for 2012″. Now granted, not all of those laws are federal. Some are local like outlawing Happy Hour in Utah and regulating golf carts in Georgia.
Now seeing this reemphasized why I had the idea to write this Blog. I’m sure that there has to be at least a couple of people out there in America who are as unhappy, about the direction the country has taken over the past several years, as I am. I am a person old enough to remember when things weren’t quite so bad. We had much fewer taxes, no national debt and you could actually believe what a politician told you. Yes, I know that last statement might raise some eyebrows for some of you but it’s true. I grew up in the late 50’s and early 60’s and I lived only three houses down from our US congressman. He would actually come down to our house, sit in our back yard, (in the South during the summer) and talk about the state of things. He would actually listen to what people wanted and what they had to say. This is in stark contrast to my Senator today. I have sent Senator Bennet several, rather lengthy emails and I have received the same canned auto-responder message for each one that says “we are very busy right now but we will get back to you.” Well that was during the Health Care debate and I still don’t have a response to my questions. I will not be holding my breath.
At any rate I believe that we as Americans can fix this country, if we develop a shared vision for its future. In order to develop that shared vision we need to go through several steps. The first step is to look at the country, identify what is wrong and specifically who is responsible for the missteps. So with that in mind I will start giving you some of my ideas and I hope that your comments will even shed new light on the dealings of America.
Thanks!
Harry
